The central facilities of Manigurr-ma Village were designed as the hub of a new short term stay facility in Darwin for fly-in fly-out construction workers. It consists of a cluster of diverse, complementary buildings including a diner to suit over 1,000 construction workers, a tavern, gym, reading room, 50 seat cinema, and administration and medical facilities. Aecom engaged Ingrid as project interior designer within their team of architects to ensure the interior design of each building complemented Aecom’s style of site sensitive tropical architecture. In tandem with the thoughtful landscaping of the site, the team were able to create sizeable “light” structures with contemporary interiors that engage and interest the ever changing tides of visitors.
